MAC lipstick swatches + review!

MAC lipstick swatches + review!

                                                                     From top-

VIVA GLAM RIHANNA A93- This is definitely my go-to lipstick for the weekends. It has a frost finish which shows excellent colour payoff.  The final shade of this lipstick really depends on your skin tone. If you have a darker shade of skin tone, it generally appears as a deep metallic brown; however, the lighter your skin is, the more amplified the colour-payoff is. The red itself is blue based although it is a frost finish and has gold flecks in it. Overall, all of that together leaves a warm tone. Also, if you are a lover of obvious red shades, this one probably isn't for you. On application, it is slightly orange and more of a subtle red. It all depends on your skin tone. It glides on very smoothly and is surprisingly long lasting for a finish that isn't matte.

Obviously, I have to talk about the packaging of Viva Glam Rihanna. It is a limited edition product but it is still available from places such as Ebay and Amazon. The packaging has a very rubberised feel to it and is also durable. It has a glowing red effect to it and is a must-have for any makeup collection on display!

Please me- I definitely would like to point out that the shade of this lipstick doesn't seem to wash out any skin tone. It is a matte finish but it isn't as drying as most other lipsticks. Also, I would say that this is an everyday lipstick as it almost matches my lip shade now. It's nowhere near a barbie pink colour, instead it's more of a natural shade which seems to cover any fine lines I may have on my lips. It matches any outfit and allows you to really go to town on your eyeshadow!

Vegas Volt B63- Recently I have been loving coral colours, hence the purchase of Vegas Volt. It is an amplified finish and appears as a pastel orange with a hint of neon. This product isn't too in your face. It's a much more subtle version of Morange. It has no shimmer or frost, yet leaves a beautiful gloss to the lips. Like all mac lipsticks, it has the classic black and silver packaging along with great pigmentation. It also has the distinct vanilla fragrance to it.

Girl About Town A14- This is by far one of MAC's most popular lipstick choices for the night. If I ever go shopping in the evening, I always see girl's in their 20's wearing this distinct shade. Must be why its called Girl About Town! It is a medium-dark fuchsia pink with blue undertones and silver specks. It has an amplified creme finish. Unfortunately, I find that this lipstick needs reapplying every 1-2 hours and simply isn't long lasting. This may be because it has a creamier consistency than any other lipstick in the launch; therefore, it creates a fresh look to a plain or dull face. In my opinion, this is the pink lipstick to have in your collection. It doesn't necessarily need a lip-liner, it doesn't settle into fine lines and fades evenly!

Saint Germain A73- This lipstick is also part of the amplified creme collection. In all honesty, I'm not particularly keen on this product. The colour after application isn't even and the formula seems to settle into every fine line I have on my lips. Also, because of the light pink shade, my teeth end up looking a greeny-yellow colour which ain't cute. I also feel like the overall shade is too much and I end up having to tone my eyeshadow down which I don't like doing. For £15.00 a tube, I was disappointed at the cheap, barbie finish it gave me.

Pink Poodle AB3- Something I like about this lipstick is that it feels very moisturising to the lips. Not like the other glaze finishes, which end up drying my lips out. A lot of people have told me that this shade does not work on warm skin tones, so (judging by that) I would recommend this for people with a lighter complexion.

This was brought back from the 2000's. It was featured in the Valentines Day collection and was brought back by request. The overall response to this product was positive with a lot of buyers pointing out that this was the exact lipstick Reese Witherspoon wore in the film 'Legally Blonde'!

Ruby Woo BC3- At first I was a bit scared of applying this lipstick because the colour is such a shocking red. Eventually, I applied the product and once again, MAC nailed it with the shade and blue-undertones! It is part of the matte collection and lasts all day! This is a shade that looks good on everyone if applied properly. It can be awkward to put on the lips because of the incredibly dry formula and definitely tugs at the lips; however, it works wonders at making your teeth appear whiter. Also, this product featured in Vogue magazine on the list of 10 best dark red, matte and deep red lipsticks. Girls, become a confident lipstick wearer and purchase this colour!

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend almost all of mac's lipsticks. The only lipstick I have encountered problems with is Saint Germain but you may have a different opinion on it. My favourite MAC lipstick by far is Vegas Volt as the pastel effect goes with my NC25 skin shade perfectly. Also, it brightens my whole face up and leaves the perfect amount of gloss to my lips. £15.00 is quite an expensive price to pay for one lipstick but I can promise you three things:

1. You will never be disappointed with the pigmentation level

2. The packing will never break and it protects the lipstick inside.
3. The lipsticks will have a very long life expectancy if used appropriately.

I hope you consider purchasing one of these lipsticks because I'm sure that many MAC lovers will agree that these lipsticks are a great choice.
